Maker Mentors

Personalized Guidance, Limitless Possibilities

At Artisans Asylum, making means something different to everyone. It’s about harnessing technology to bring your ideas to life. It’s about developing an entrepreneurial skillset so your passion can become your career. And to many, it’s about building community and embracing creativity in all its forms.

Here, we understand the value of getting hands-on experience and personalized support while expanding your skills and mastering different tools. We are excited to announce the launch of the Maker Mentors program, with special thanks to the Cummings Foundation!

Through our Maker Mentors program, we connect youth and young adults, ages 12 to 25, to experienced makers who help them develop new skills and embrace their creative passions.

The maker mentor and mentee will commit to working together for at least eight hours a month over one year. During the mentorship, Artisans Asylum staff, Mentee, and Mentor will work together to set and meet goals for the year.

Mentees

As a mentee, you’ll learn from your mentor’s years of experience and technical expertise. You’ll have endless opportunities to apply and expand your capabilities, ask questions, and articulate your ideas. Through project-based learning, you’ll sharpen your skills and grow your confidence. And you’ll have the support you need to define and pursue your personal and professional goals.

Mentors

If you’re working at the intersection of arts, technology, entrepreneurship, science, or anywhere in between, you’d be a perfect fit for the maker mentor role. Apply your knowledge and unique skills to coaching and supporting young artists, scientists, and entrepreneurs. Help them explore their talents and grow, both personally and professionally. It’s an incredible opportunity to give back and share your passions with the next generation of makers.

Special Thanks!

Community Partners

If you’re part of an organization in the tech, creative, entrepreneurial, or educational industry looking to give back, there are many ways to support Artisans’ Maker Mentor Program. Your business can participate in the Program, working with youth and young adult mentees and helping them develop specialized skills. You can also help us reach a broader range of mentors by sharing the Maker Mentor opportunity across your professional network. And we’re always looking for partners willing to donate or share resources like materials, tools, and workspace. There are endless ways to get involved.

“By nurturing the entrepreneurial spirit, students will see that they can create their own jobs and industries depending on their interests.”
