Friends of Artisans –
Late last year we were thrilled to be recognized by the state of Massachusetts for the opportunity we provide for craftsmen, designers, engineers and makers and the positive impact we make on the economy. Lt. Governor Karyn Polito and Secretary of Housing & Economic Development Jay Ash announced a $100,000 matching grant to the Artisan’s Asylum through MassDevelopment.
The grant has been earmarked for three areas:
– Upgrade of computer systems
– Acquiring a laser etching machine and building out digital fabrication
– Design and construction of an accessible and engaging entrance to the building
As you might guess, a matching grant means we need to raise $100,000 in additional matching funds to make the most of this grant. Today is a great day to make a donation to help us meet our match.
In addition to individual contributions, we are looking for champions for innovation and the maker movement to sponsor our efforts as corporate partners. If you are that champion, or know someone who might be one, please share this letter and our 2017 Sponsorship Invitation. Partners interested in seizing this opportunity will need to confirm their pledges by February 25th and complete donations and support by May 31st.
Thank you for all of your support in the teaching, learning and practice of fabrication!
