The White-line woodcut employs minimal cutting to created simple shapes, with each section brushed separately with watercolor before printing. In this online class, participants will learn to carve and cut lines into a block of wood to create a beautiful and colorful print using traditional techniques.
This particular type of printmaking is a standard relief print in reverse, replete with space and color. The process uses watered-down watercolor paint and simple tools that can be purchased online or at local craft stores. The final piece will showcase how this technique was performed, using line cuts that remain white on the final print separating sections that are multi-colored.
This class will review carving, shaping, painting and techniques for registration, all to form a unique print that can be used again and again.
Participants will receive a list of materials with the confirmation email that can be purchased online or at any local Blick or Michael’s craft store.
