Interested in taking your sewing skills to the next level? A serger is a machine that trims the fabric, creates a seam, and overcasts the edge, all in one step. When used in tandem with a traditional sewing machine, the serger can increase sewing speed while simultaneously adding a professional touch to the project. This class will demystify the process of operating a serger. Students will gain the knowledge and skills needed to sew a properly balanced serged seam and will explore the ways in which a serger can be used to expand their creative sewing potential.
Through hands-on instruction, students will learn how to thread the machine, how to adjust the serged stitch, and how to improve sewing efficiency with common techniques and best practices. Samples will be provided to illustrate the machine’s range of capabilities. The skills acquired will be put to use as students work on a simple project, a zippered pouch.
$5; payable in cash/check to the Instructor. All materials are provided.
