Leatherworking 102: Make A Wallet

March 7 @ 12:00 pm - 4:30 pm

Class Description
Expand on basic skills learned in Leatherworking 101 and learn new skills such as hand stitching, creating pockets, and finishing natural leather with oil. Students will be able to choose from a small selection of designs to create a wallet from a pre-made template that they can modify. This class should run for about 3-4 hours depending on if students want to stay to finish their stitching.

Class Goals
Students will learn how to work from and modify templates made by other makers. Starting from a pre-made template for more complex project is a good way of understanding how to make your own. Using skills learned in Leatherworking 101, students will cut out the pieces of their wallets and discuss the importance of the order of operations in more complex projects. We will discuss different methods of sewing leather and the pros and cons of each method. For the project in this class, we will use a traditional hand-sewn saddle stitch.

**Students are encouraged to take the Leatherworking 101 course prior to joining 102, unless by permission of the Instructor.

Materials Fee
$35; payable to Instructor in class
