Heard of Raspberry Pi but unsure how to make one? This tiny computer can be used for almost anything and at just a fraction of the cost of a regular computer. If you’re interested in building one, but need a little help and all the parts you need to get started, join us for this introduction to the Raspberry Pi.
In this workshop, you will build simple applications using GPIO, a stepper motor and a camera module. We’ll give an overview of the hardware and operating system and how you can make it work for your project. Experience with Python and Linux would be useful but is not necessary.
Students will learn how to use a Raspberry Pi as a desktop computer. They will also build three separate, simple applications, which will expose students to different important features of the Pi. Students will be provided with a Pi and all of the necessary hardware (there will be a materials fee) and example programs.
$90 payable by cash/check to the Instructor. For this fee, students take this home the following:
– Raspberry Pi
– power supply
– 32gb sd card adapter and Raspbian OS
– stepper motor + controller
– small breadboard
– resistor and led
– dupont connectors
– clip storage box
– HDMI cable
Students may want to bring in your own laptop, though this is not required.
