Art and Interactive Electronics

July 23 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
  |   Multiple Session Class (See all dates)
This class runs 2 Tuesdays

Electronics are everywhere, and now, they are becoming part of our art. This four hour coursewill introduce you to the Adafruit Circuit Playground, a wearable and relatively easy to programmicrocontroller/development board, that is based on the extremely popular Arduino platform, usedthroughout the world in many educational settings.

A Foundation Class in Python Programming

July 27 @ 11:00 am - 5:00 pm

A foundation Python3 class intended for those who have no prior knowledge of the language where we will learn how to ‘get things done quickly’. Due to its straightforward syntax, dynamic data typing and the availability of a multitude of add-on library modules, it is an excellent software platform for rapid software development. Of particular advantage is that the Python is an interpreted language allowing each line or section of code to be tested in isolation. Students will learn the basic syntax of the language and how to bootstrap their knowledge with the addition of new commands and library modules as they are needed.

Build A Dragon Robot – A Parent/Child Class (Ages 7 – 11 years)

July 31 @ 3:00 pm - 5:30 pm

Build confidence in technology and engineering this summer while assembling and operating a simple robot together! In this project-based, hands-on class where parents and children will work together to build a custom Arduino robot developed for teaching purposes at Artisan's Asylum. Discover how to use the visual programming language Scratch and the Arduino platform to teach your robot how to dance, sense other robots and follow a robot roadway! The class is best for children aged 7 - 11 years old and an adult of any age.

Interactive Electronics and Bluetooth

August 6 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

If you have built a Circuit Playground or Arduino project, you may want to move on to the next step – making it interact with a smartphone via Bluetooth LE (BLE)! This course teaches you how to use the Adafruit Flora BLE module, which can be used to remotely control a Circuit Playground or Arduino.

Emotional Design – the Human / Machine Interface

August 10 @ 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm

As our interactions with robots increase, more importance is being placed on their ability to respond at the human level - an “emotional” level. In this class, we will be exploring the different methods of programming required in order to create the perception of emotions from the human perspective.
