Member Mike Dawson spearheads projects with the local Kennedy School.

Mike explains, “We are running a maker space club project for some students in the 6th – 8th grade range where each kid will get to both learn to make a simple 3 string guitar and some quick musical slide guitar techniques in the last class. They will assemble part of the neck in this class. Between week 1 and 2 they will go out and search for a cigar box they want to use. We will have extras for those that are not successful. Weeks 2-5 will be building, installing electric pick-ups and if time allows decorating. Week 6 hopefully is a jam session with a local musician.”

With help of members Mike Beach, Devin Ulibarri, and past member Alan Ball, these kids finished creating the guitars and were able to play!
