Snow Storm Closings and Union Square Snow Day

February 7, 2013

Due to the storm predictions for tomorrow (Friday), Artisan’s Asylum will be closed to the public; no staff and volunteers will be on hand to conduct tours, answer questions, or process payments.
Depending on the course of the storm, we may have to close the Asylum and cancel classes on Saturday as well. We will shut down if Somerville calls a snow emergency for Saturday — stay tuned for a further announcement.

The good news:
POST-SNOWSTORM PLAYTIME! Weather conditions permitting, we will be gathering on Saturday afternoon in Union Square to play in the newly-heaped snow together. Grab your buckets, shovels and gloves and join Artisan’s Asylum as we set up some speakers, put out some hot chocolate, and build snow forts, snowmen, and whatever other snow sculpture we want in Union Square!
For those so inclined, check out the Facebook event: https://www.facebook.com/events/566841069995108/

We’ve done this once before – two years ago, we had around 200 people join us, and we made Calvin & Hobbes sculptures, igloos, snow-decahedrons, snow dragons, armies of tiny snowmen, and more. You can read more about our previous escapades here: http://somerville.patch.com/articles/photo-gallery-snow-art-flash-mob-creates-wintry-art-and-an-epic-snowball-fight
We’ll be in touch with updates as information reaches us!

In the meantime, stay warm and dry and safe.
