Designed to introduce students to intermediate woodworking and simple joinery. Learn how to use the Sawstop Tablesaw to complete a Cherry/Walnut/Maple Keepsake Box (9” x 5” by 5”). Learn different joints techniques on the table saw such as rabbets, grooves, splines, and miters.

After selecting and purchasing lumber, the next step in any woodworking project is to flatten and straighten the stock. Not that long ago, this work was laboriously done by hand. Fortunately, there are four machines available today that are specifically designed to take rough sawn lumber and process it into boards that are straight, flat, and true!

The wood lathe is a fantastic tool for adding artistic flourishes to woodworking projects. In this class students will learn the basics of spindle turning and safe operation of the lathe. Topics covered will be the anatomy of the lathe, project planning including ways of mounting stock to the lathe as well as turning tools and their various purposes.
