A quick introduction to CAD (Computer Aided Design) systems using Fusion 360. This class will introduce students to the process of sketching and 3D object creation for fabrication, mechanical and creative projects. Students familiar with the concepts of digital fabrication tools in this course will get the tools necessary to make their own objects. The instructor has several years of experience using several software CAD packages for 3D object manufacturing using several digital fabrication techniques.
Students will be able to design basic pieces and modify them using Fusion 360. They will have the tools to use a basic CAD system similar to Fusion. They will learn to sketch complex geometries in 2D and then turn those sketches into 3D objects. Students will also learn basic concepts for design applied to digital manufacturing and will apply them to their designs.
Fusion 360 software package will be provided for the class. Students are advised to bring paper to take notes.
