I just want to thank everyone who made Saturday’s Open Studios event such a success.
For those of you who couldn’t make it, we estimated that over 350 people came through our doors over the course of Saturday afternoon. We had a cadre of 10 volunteers giving tours that left from the front door every 15-30 minutes; we had 20 different members presenting their work; there were live demonstrations of glassworking, jewelrymaking, 3D printing, and taiko drumming; and visitors were engaging with interactive robots and light and music installations and making their own sculptures out of duct tape.
The event would not have been possible without the immense organizing effort of Karen Christians, the artful curation of Irene Ferri, the help of the publicity team, the participants who displayed, performed, and discussed their works, the valiant tour guides who led visitors through the space, and the many members and volunteers who cleaned, moved furniture, took out the trash, and generally made the place look presentable.
If you weren’t able to make it to Saturday’s event, put our next Open Studios event in your calendar now! We’ll be participating in Somerville Open Studios May 3-5, 2013.
